MOCA Website Redesign

Challenge

MOCA needed to be able to update all their content with ease without being technical.  The existing solution only controlled specific parts of the website, allowing their content to get stale and diminish their brand.

MOCA was embarking on a major, transformative phase in their history and they needed a website that reflected their new place on the national art scene.

They have some fairly big plans to use their website to reach their national constituency and the ability to extend the platform was a critical requirement.

Solution

With the adoption of a new site design by Pentagram, we worked with MOCA to discover their content needs for the short-term as well as what it might look like in 24 months.  It was clear that they needed a platform that could grow with them.  Drupal was definitely the answer.

Our Drupal build-out enabled non-technical staff the ability to:
  • Update their site content using a WYSIWYG tool limited to the site's design guide.
  • Add a photo galleries which could be easily embedded into any page on the website.
  • Ability to elevate event, news and program content to the home page.
  • Monitor website statistics using Google Analytics.

About the Organization

Central to MOCA's mission is its goal to make Chinese American history accessible to the general public, ranging from scholars to young children, from community members to international tourists.

Through its thought-provoking work, the Museum not only encourages the understanding and appreciation of Chinese American arts, culture and history, but also informs, educates and engages visitors about Chinese American history that is in the making.

MOCA will be opening a new space in 2009 and is located in the heart of Chinatown, NYC.
