Neal Maher

Neal has spent the past 18 years—his entire professional design career—focusing exclusively on projects in the spaces of progressive social change, sustainability, advocacy & movement-building.

As Capellic’s Creative Director, Neal leads clients through the process of giving specific, visual form to abstract concepts and ideas—form that users can see, interact with, and experience. He’s responsible for helping clients find their unique visual identity and voice in an already cluttered and loud world, distilling that into actionable creative direction, crafting original creative concepts and designs, and then working with the rest of the Capellic team to turn that creative into a modular and extensible design system for our clients and their users.

He is also a specialist in user experience design, focusing on an empathetic approach to user problems in creating meaningful, intuitive, and accessible solutions.

In addition to Capellic’s current nonprofit clients, Neal has produced visual identity, campaign and website design work for leading change organizations including Greenpeace, Global Zero, Avaaz, 350.org, and the United Nations. He is proud that two projects he designed became winners of Webby awards, with several others being honoured as nominees.

When he manages to find some free time, you’ll find him exploring roads and mountains on his bicycle (or just tinkering with his bike), listening to music, trying to build something or other, and spending time with his family.

Neal has a bachelor’s degree in Art & Design, with a specialization in Visual Communication and Printmaking.
