Joshua Turton
Joshua is a long-time Drupal Developer and Engineer, with more than 20 years of experience. A background in scenery and prop design for the theater turned into a career in development after he earned an MFA in computer arts and new media. He began as a PHP developer, dipping his toes into Drupal projects before eventually taking a full dive into a career as a Drupal specialist.
He is passionate about technical strategy and product management, particularly for nonprofits and private foundations. His specialties in content migration, backend Drupal development, and translating technical concepts into normal words have been put into service with Facing History and Ourselves, Ohio Legal Help, UCLA Health, and the National Gallery of Art, along with many others. He is also the maintainer of Migrate Media Handler, a Drupal migration module.
Joshua is also an accomplished public speaker, having presented at DrupalCon Los Angeles, Drupal Camp Costa Rica, BADCamp, and numerous smaller engagements.
Growing up on California’s Central Coast, he’s eaten his fair share of Santa Maria-style barbecue and has developed a passion for outdoor cooking. He and his wife spend much of their time preparing meals for their five ravenous sons while taking care of a dog, two cats, and two rabbits. He’s also a lifelong game nerd, whether it’s tabletop gaming, RPGs, or video games.
