Joel Bush
Joel is one of Capellic’s founders and partners. He leads Capellic’s strategy and design team (although they are all exceptionally talented and kind people who don’t need much leading) and is the strategic account lead on several projects.
Joel and Stephen Musgrave founded Capellic in 2012 with the goal of providing nonprofits with industry leading service built on trust, pragmatism, and exceptional quality. Joel has provided strategic counsel to organizations including ASPCA, Easterseals, UNICEF Canada, Operation Smile, USO, and many more. He has and continues to support an environment and partnership conducive to learning how to lead, and has created relationships with clients that have lasted, in many cases, over a decade.
Joel’s role is informed by 25 years of experience serving nonprofits and, in the early days, California political campaigns. There were several gems in those 25 years, including helping organizations decide whether Facebook or MySpace was the right place to meet their supporters. Now he talks about optimizing for AI versus SEO (it’s both!), and wonders what will make a good story during the next tech revolution.
When Joel isn’t Capellic’ing, he is running, playing volleyball, and watching in amazement as his two kids get older and more capable. He finished his first and probably only Half-Ironman in 2025 (he was last, but he did finish). He loves to travel and his favorite trip of all time was hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.
Joel graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Government in 1998.
